Welcome to Year Three!
Our Year Three classes are the Leopards and Tigers.
Ms Smith and Mrs O'Neill assist the teachers in Year 3.
Meeting your Class Teacher
If you have any questions, please do speak to us at drop-off or pick-up time. If this is not possible, we are happy to arrange a meeting at a mutually convenient time or you can call or email the office.
Parents’ Evenings are held in October and February each year.
In Year Three we explore three exciting topics:
|Autumn Term||Spring Term||Summer Term|
|We have been recruited to join the infamous Roman army. Have a look to see what challenges we have been facing and conquering!||Get ready to explore our prehistoric cave-dwelling ancestors in the Stone Age. After half-term, we will be learning about volcanoes.||Off to Egypt for an ancient adventure. Join us to explore the pyramids, gods and Pharaohs of this sandy civilisation.|
Details of our termly curriculum can be found in the topic leaflets below. Please click to download.
Trips and Dates
PE and Uniform
Please remember that children must wear a tie between October half-term and Easter as part of their full school uniform. In the colder months, please ensure that children have a coat for break and lunchtimes.
In Year 3, PE is on a Monday and Tuesday.
Children need their PE kit for both inside and outside sport. During colder months, please do include a fleece. PE kits should be kept in school all week and brought home at the end of each half-term.
Year 3 children should continue to read at home regularly. We recommend at least fifteen minutes five times a week. This is essential to developing reading skills and all learning. Please complete the Reading Record booklet which will be seen by the class teacher each week.
Please click here for questions and ideas to make the most out of reading at home and together.
Spelling lists will be sent out each half term. For ideas on how to practise words, please click here.
Children should spend time each week practising their times tables. Children have individual logins to Times Tables Rockstars and can build progress by playing regularly.
Each week children are set a specific piece of homework based on class work that week. This is generally English, maths or topic related.
Homework is set each Friday and is due the following Wednesday. Homework is sent home via School Ping. Please remind children to homework books in the box by Wednesday.
Food and Drink
Every should come to school with a (name labelled) water bottle that will be kept in the classroom.
Children may bring a healthy snack for morning break each day.
Please remember that no food including nuts is to be brought into school.
Children may arrive at school from 8:40am and must be present by 8:50am. Key Stage 2 children finish at 3:20pm and can be collected from the KS1 playground. After 3:25pm, children should be collected from the school office.
