Meeting your Class Teacher
If you have any questions, please do speak to us at drop-off or pick-up time. If this is not possible, we are happy to arrange a meeting at a mutually convenient time or you can call or email the office.
Parents’ Evenings are held in October and February each year.
In Year Six we explore three exciting topics:
|Autumn Term||Spring Term||Summer Term|
|Pupils will investigate the Second World War, including causes, consequences and interpretations including propaganda.||Starting with the dawn of history, children will investigate heredity, evolution and adaptation in humans.||Water shapes our land and lives, so we will examine water, rivers and the sea both locally and internationally.|
Details of our termly curriculum can be found in the topic leaflets below. Please click to download.
Trips and Dates
PE and Uniform
Please remember that children must wear a tie as part of their full school uniform between October half-term and Easter.
In Year 6, PE is on a Tuesday and Thursday.
Children need their PE kit for both inside and outside sport. During colder months, please do include a fleece. PE kits should be kept in school all week and brought home at the end of each half-term.
Year 6 children are expected to read at home regularly. We recommend at least fifteen minutes five times a week. This is essential to developing reading skills and all learning.
Spelling lists will be sent out each term. Spelling tests are held every Friday.
If your child has a Lexia account, please encourage them to practise for 10 minutes a day. Click here to log in.
Children should spend time each week practising their times tables. Children have individual logins to Times Tables Rockstars and can build progress by playing regularly.
Each week children are set a specific piece of homework based on class work that week. This is generally English, maths or topic related.
Homework is set each Friday and is due the following Wednesday. Homework is sent home via School Ping.
Food and Drink
Every should come to school with a (name labelled) water bottle that will be kept in the classroom.
Children may bring a healthy snack for morning break each day.
Please remember that no food including nuts is to be brought into school.
Children may arrive at school from 8:40am and must be present by 8:50am. Key Stage 2 children finish at 3:20pm and can be collected from the gate by the staff car park. After 3:25pm, children should be collected from the school office.
Year 6 children are permitted to walk home independently. Please inform the school office if your child is to walk home. Children are permitted to bring a mobile phone for use when travelling to and from school. Mobile phones are kept in the school office during the school day.
