By adopting water-saving practices and better water management, we can reduce water waste and teach children the importance of saving water. Small actions can make a big difference when multiplied by all the people in our community! For example, we encourage the children to turn off the tap whilst soaping their hands and encourage both staff and children to rinse brushes and art equipment in containers rather than under a running tap.
Even a minor leak or the slowest drip can waste significant water over time. Our Facilities Manager regularly checks toilets, taps and any other plumbing fixtures and fittings so they can be repaired quickly to prevent waste.
We appreciate that we have access to safe drinking water as a quarter of the world's population still do not have access to this. In 2021-2022, we fund raised for clean water globally, with Tap Twinning and Water Aid. Our donation helped to provide a community in Uganda with access to safe, clean water.
