Year 6 Cuckmere Haven Trip
Year 6 had a fantastic trip to Cuckmere Haven, where we explored the beautiful coastal landscape and learned more about the natural environment. The children showed great enthusiasm as they combed the beach for signs of living things, including fossils, and observed the meandering river and chalk cliffs.
We also discovered the stone remains of a deserted medieval village church, which gave us a chance to reflect on the lives of the people who once lived there. Despite some very windy conditions, we managed to avoid the rain and made the most of our day outdoors.
The children demonstrated excellent resilience, walking an impressive 7 miles over the course of the trip—prompting a mix of reactions, from excited shouts of “best trip ever!” to the occasional “how far is the coach park?”
Back in the classroom, we will be building on this experience by writing information texts about Cuckmere Haven, with each child choosing to focus on their favourite aspect of the trip.
It was wonderful to see such curiosity, teamwork, and determination throughout the day. Well done, Year 6, for representing the school so brilliantly!
