Today, Year 5 took part in an exciting Renewable Energy Workshop, giving us a hands-on introduction to the future of sustainable power. We explored different types of energy sources and distinguished between renewable and non-renewable energy.

A highlight of the workshop was the practical challenge, when we used mini solar panels to design and build our own solar-powered buggies. Working in teams, we built our buggies from components such

as axles, wheels, motors and solar panels. It was so exciting to see our vehicles travel using nothing but energy from the sun or powerful lights.

The workshop also encouraged us to think more broadly about energy use when we looked at the current energy mix in the UK.
