Year 5 Fundraising Movie Night

On Monday 12th May Year 5 had a movie night at 4:30pm till 6:00. We screened two movies consisting of Mufasa: The Lion King  and Dog Man. Mufasa was shown in Elephants’ classroom  and Dog Man in Rhinos’ classroom.

Food was given to the children. Popcorn and a choice of drinks: blackcurrant squash, orange squash or lemonade. Children got cosy in comfy clothes. They sat on pillows with friends just like in a real cinema.

Excitement brewed as the crowd got ready to see an awesome film with the choices listed above. Children got to wear their own, comfy clothes and bring in blankets and toys. The movies were picked in a voting system!

Dog Man Film Review

9/10✨

A police officer and his faithful police hound get injured. Strange but life-saving surgery fuses them together: Dog Man is created. Dog Man must stop feline supervillain Petey from cloning himself and going on a crime splurge.

A Year 5 student (age 10) said, “It was really good!”

Mufasa Film Review

 9/10 ✨

“Mufasa: The Lion King” is a prequel to the 2019 remake of Disney’s “The Lion King” focusing on Mufasa’s childhood and journey to becoming king. The film tells a story of how Mufasa, a young orphaned cub, finds his place in the world and forms a bond with another lion cub, named Taka, who will later become his rival Scar.

A Year 5 student (age 9) said, “Great! 7/10!”

Fundraising for Operation Education (NGM)

Last year (when we were in Year 4) we helped to raise a whopping amount of £2,895 for Project Borehole by doing chores for pocket money. This year we have raised money by having a movie night to raise money for operation education. Keegan Home has a limited education system and education is something that everyone has a right to. This money goes towards a great cause; we hope the boys at Keegen Home can make good use of the money.

The voting system of the movie night was simple. Our teachers asked for movie recommendations and we voted for our favourite.

Thank you to Jenna, Sienna E and Robyn (Year 5 students) for writing this news.

Thank-you to Amber for this great picture of The Lion King. She spent two days making it!
