Stone Age Day For Year 3
Leopards and Tigers travelled back many thousand years today to the Stone Age. Arriving in costume, they dressed up a teacher as a hunter gatherer with many layers of skin and fur so she could withstand the ice and snow on her daily hunts for food. The children examined artefacts, looking for clues as to who they belonged to, what they were made of and how they were used - exploring a variety of furs, skulls and man made objects that were used for tools, weapons and decoration. They also experienced a safe outdoors demonstration of fire lighting and catching a spark using the 'friction' technique and a unique demonstration of archery, shooting a safety specialist arrow high into the air and watching it land on the other side of the playground. It was a fascinating and fun-filled day, where the children couldn't believe how much the workshop leaders knew! A great delve into history, before safely returning to 2024.
