Carroty Wood 2024 Day 1

The early rain did not dampen the spirits of the Year 6 children as they arrived at school on Monday 30th September, ready for their residential trip to Carroty Wood. Taking charge of their cases and in their 'Class of 25' hoodies, they bid goodbye to their families and went over to Blatchington Mill to board two comfortable coaches ready for the journey.

The journey was smooth and the coach drivers helpful and friendly. Before too long, everyone had arrived safely at Carroty Wood and excitedly explored the lodges and found their dormitories. By 1.00pm, everyone had had lunch and was ready for their first activity.

The four groups started with Abseiling, BMX, High Ropes and Rafting and the weather remained dry, even though some of the children did not, as you will see from photos below! The children will rotate around these activities as the week goes on.

After an excellent supper, the children explored the woodland close to the lodge - exciting to trust other senses as it grew dark. Then they enjoyed time in the sports hall before bed.

Here are a few photos to give a taste of the first day.
