Reading, Writing and Spoken Language
The development of children’s language is crucial to their success across the curriculum. A child’s ability to communicate is vital to all aspects of their learning. We want all children to be able to speak clearly and with confidence and to develop a love of reading and writing. We teach children to communicate effectively in speech and writing, and to listen with understanding.
Our aim is for all Aldrington children to be confident and enthusiastic speakers, readers and writers. Throughout the school, literacy is taught daily. English lessons and focus activities provide opportunities to develop reading, writing and speaking & listening skills for different purposes. We use the Little Wandle phonics programme to support the teaching of phonics in EYFS and KS1.
