Children giving their time and skills for others
The children like to offer their time and skills to help others and our school. They regularly ask to use the gardening equipment to weed, clean up pavements, pick-up litter, gather-up autumn leaves and dispose of it in our compost bin. They will happily chat with friends as they toil – making it a much environment for us all to share.
Ofsted comments from Spring 2024 – Brighton University
Aldrington works with the universities and colleges to support students with their training and so their future careers in education. We come alongside our students whether they are postgraduates, undergraduates or college students studying A-levels. We prioritise relationships and support the individuals, adapting where appropriate due to the students’ needs (eg neurodiversity) as well as help to guide them with their training.
Please see below an email from Brighton University regarding their recent Ofsted inspection. It shows how Aldrington made a difference to their teacher trainee undergraduates:
Good Morning,
We hope this email finds you well after the half term break.
We are very pleased to be able to share with you the report from our recent Ofsted inspection which will also be published on the Ofsted website this week.
You will notice your setting listed in the report as one which was visited; we'd like to take this opportunity to personally thank you, once again, for your ongoing support for our partnership and particularly for taking the time during the inspection to discuss this with inspectors. We really appreciated how inspectors saw and heard how we collaborate to ensure the training experience is strong and therefore the positive impact on the children and young people our students go on to teach.
A few highlights which recognise and commend the strength of our partnership with you:
'Trainees shine at Brighton's long-established and highly impressive teacher training programmes.'
'The care and dedication shown by staff towards trainees is superb. Trainees are at the heart of everything. They are valued and expertly supported throughout the course.'
'Trainees impress the placement settings they work in because of their professionalism and aptitude to apply what they have learned.'
'The wider partnership is wholly committed to co-producing the curriculum. The provider's excellent relationships with placements helps stakeholders to understand the planned curriculum and the important practice and feedback that trainees need.'
With best wishes,
Polly Herbert (Head of ITE), Andy Davies (Associate Dean, Academic Operations) and the ITE Team
