Consumption and Waste

A zero-waste lifestyle helps to protect the environment in several ways.  We encourage students and staff to make conscious decisions when it comes to consumption and waste.  We do our best to ensure that classroom resources are conserved and reused as far as possible and recycle glue sticks that are no longer usable.  By taking part in the SchoolCycled initiative, we aim to bring awareness to the importance of recycling items that would otherwise end up in landfill or incinerated. We have the regular practice of composting fruit and vegetable waste after morning snack each day so as to generate rich compost for use in the Aldrington Allotment. As children then visit the allotment throughout Reception to Year 2 to dig, plant, water and grow vegetables they will see first hand the cycle of environmentalism.
