Fundraising for Charities
Whole School Fundraising
2023-2024, we supported New Growth Ministries and their children at Keegan Home, Zimbabwe. Our challenge, ‘Operation Borehole’ was to help New Growth Ministries (NGM) to get clean water as their borehole had dried up. Our children and their families rallied together and raised a whopping £2,800!!! Hilary (co-founder) and Sarah (trustee) visited us to update the children on how the project was going, praying for rainfall as it had been such a dry season and to tell us about amazing times when they received answer to prayer in ‘It had to be God’ situations.
2024-2025, we continued to work with New Growth Ministries, supporting the children at Keegan Home, Zimbabwe. Our challenge, ‘Operation Education’ was to raise money to help NGM employ two English tutors because the boys studied in English although they speak Shona. Through sponsored events and the Year 6 Fayre, our families raised an amazing £2,470.40!!! Hilary (co-founder) and Sarah (trustee) visited to update up on how they are doing and to share letters from the boys to our Aldrington children, written in English. We have enjoyed reading about their lives. We are keen to keep this relationship growing, although we will be raising funds for a different charity next year.
2025-2026, our Year 5 children have researched local and national charities that they would like Aldrington to raise funds for. They presented their ideas to their teachers and the most voted for four then presented their ideas to our governor ‘Dragons’ Den’. The winning team are presenting their charity of choice to all of the children in January 2026: Stand up to Cancer. It is a research based UK charity and not only gives us the opportunity to raise money to support their cause, but also gives us the opportunity to learn more about how we go about treating cancer.
Individual fundraising
Our children consider how they can be courageous advocates and help others out of school hours. Some grow plants and sell them from their drive, whilst others have done sponsored runs, but all then give the money they’ve raised to charities of their choice.
Harvest Offerings to Hangleton and West Blatchington Food bank
Email from Kelly, local foodbank after the School Harvest celebration at Bishop Hannington Church:
Good afternoon, Debbie
I just wanted to say thank you so much for inviting me along this morning. It was fabulous Harvest Festival and the children were amazing.
We are absolutely blown away by the generosity from your school community, I currently have no space in my car apart from the driver’s seat itself!
The donations we have received will really help us in continuing to support those, in the local area who may need it at this time or going forwards.
