Aldrington CE Primary School

Admissions

All applications for places at Aldrington CE Primary School should be made through the Brighton & Hove admissions process which can be found by following this link.  As Aldrington is a Church of England Voluntary Aided school, it is the school governors who act as the admissions authority.  This means that our governors agree the admissions arrangements and oversubscription criteria which can be found below.

Please carefully consider the oversubscription criteria in section 4.0 and additionally fill in the ‘Aldrington Supplementary Information Form’. This can be downloaded below and returned directly to the school office, or via email to admin@aldrington.brighton-hove.sch.uk.

Prior to considering an application, we invite you to visit our school.  In the autumn term, we hold open days for parents of prospective pupils to look around the school and meet senior staff and governor representatives.  We feel that the best way to experience the life of our school is to visit during the school day, if at all possible.

We are hoping to hold a school tour and Q&A session on the following days:

  • Wednesday 10th November 2021 at 1.30 - 2.30pm
  • Tuesday 16th November 2021 at 10 - 11am
  • Tuesday 23rd November 2021 at 7 - 8pm

Please note that if you would like to see a snapshot of a typical school day for the children, we would advise that you come on one of the dates during the day when the children are present.  You will also have the opportunity to be shown round the school by some of the older children. The day sessions will also include a talk by the Headteacher and a Q&A session.  If you are unable to visit during the day, please look at the virtual tour in the videos below.  At the evening session you will be able to see the school building only, listen to a talk by the Headteacher and take part in a Q&A session.

Please get in touch with the School Office if you would like to sign-up for one of the above dates.  If there should be a change in COVID-19 restrictions, we may not be able to see you in person. We will keep this page updated with information.

Aldrington has 60 Reception places available each year.  The closing date for admission in September 2022 is 15 January 2022.  Children may be admitted to other classes in the school depending on the availability of a place in the relevant year group.  If a vacancy becomes available, governors are able to offer these from our waiting list.  Please contact the school office to enquire about vacancies and to arrange a visit prior to making an application.

If you are considering requesting delayed entry for a Summer born child, please refer to section 2.8 of the school's admission policy and also read the relevant section on the Council's website for further information and details of key dates: https://www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/infant-junior-and-primary-school-admissions-guide-2022-2023#apply-for-a-school-place

If you have any questions in relation to applying for a place for your child, please contact the Admissions Secretary via the school office.
